Question:

Dear Team,
as it seems, when I delete a contact in Pipedrive, it still appears in MailChimp.
Can you figure this out – how can I make sure, the contact is deletet in MailChimp. without manually having to do so?
It is very important

  • as there is a maximum number of subscribers in the free Mailchimp version (2,000)
  • as I delete contacts, in order to not send them any more emails. IF THIS IS NOT SYNCED, I GET IN TROUBLE (sending mails even though the person did not want it / unsubscribed)

Thank you!
Tobias

Answer:

Hello Tobias,
Pipechimp adds a merge field called “Pipedrive Person Active Flag” to MailChimp, and its value is “false” if the person is deleted from Pipedrive. You can use that for segmenting your emails or finding contacts that need to be deleted.
It is done that way because MailChimp doesn’t allow subscribers to be deleted in some cases. For example if there has been an email campaign sent to that subscriber within seven days. This way we got the information synced to MailChimp in every case.

Comment:

Thank you, that is helpful!
How does ist work “the other way around”, meaning – if someone unsubscribes using the links, MailChimp provides (contact is marked “unsubscribed” in Mailchimp), how can I find that, or will be notified in PipeDrive?
(One problem seems, that I cannot search the notes that are added to contacts in PipeDrive, the area, where Pipechimp puts all the information) Tobias

Answer:

If a person unsubscribes from MC campaigns email link Pipechimp adds that as a note to Pipedrive under the person/contact.

As you said, unfortunately, notes aren’t searchable in Pipedrive yet, but they will be soon as they promise on this blog post: https://blog.pipedrive.com/2015/01/pipedrive-users-tricks-and-hacks/

Fortunately, MailChimp can handle those who have unsubscribed and won’t send them emails.
